Each year, we welcome a group of talented high school seniors to experience a taste of university life. As part of their time with us, they explore research at the Focus on Emotions Lab, diving into topics of diversity and school inclusion. In return, we gain valuable input from their fresh perspectives. After all, they are the ones experiencing school right now.
This year’s program invited students to reflect on the experiences of students with autism and those who are deaf or hard of hearing, and to consider how factors like the sound environment, or micro-aggressions can contribute to exclusion.
Tomorrow, April 1st, the students will present the topics that sparked their interest the most in a pre-university closing event. The event is open to all—come join the discussion!
