Pre-University Presentation Market: Students Share Their Takeaways

Each year, we welcome a group of talented high school seniors to experience a taste of university life through Pre-University Classes. As part of their time with us, they explore research at the Focus on Emotions Lab, diving into topics of diversity and school inclusion. In return, we gain valuable input from their fresh perspectives. After all, they are the ones experiencing school right now.

This year’s program invited students to reflect on the experiences of students with autism and those who are deaf or hard of hearing, and to consider how factors like the sound environment, or micro-aggressions can contribute to exclusion.

On April 1st, the students successfully completed their course with a final closing event, where they created posters and presentations on the topics that sparked their interest the most and received their certificates. Big thanks to the Pre-University class organiser Esrih Bakker, to all the motivated students & teachers for making it a success!
