How does preschoolers’ play style relate to their aggressive impulses? In Guida’s recent study, rough-and-tumble play (RTP) at home was related to more emotion dysregulation and aggression in preschoolers, and at school RTP was related to more physical aggression. Negative emotions displayed during father-child RTP was related to poorer emotion regulation and higher levels of aggression. Overall, RTP does not seem to improve emotion regulation for children.
