CI Toronto NettenAnouk presented our latest findings regarding the development of early signs of psychopathology in preschool children with CI on the 14TH International Conference on Cochlear Implants and Other Implantable Technologies which was held in Toronto, Canada (11-14 May).

The outcomes of this longitudinal study reveal equal levels of psychopathology (e.g., anxiety, depression, aggression) in preschoolers with CI compared to hearing peers. It underlines the importance of language development. Early language skills serve as a protective factor in the development of early signs of psychopathology. The paper discussing all aspects of this study in detail is currently under peer-review.
