GuidaGuida Veiga successfully defended her thesis 'Emotions in play; The importance of children’s play and leisure for their social and emotional development' in front of a committee of opponents on May 4th in Lisbon, Portugal and received her PhD diploma with distiction. The defence lasted for 2.5 hours but Guida was clearly at ease and had interesting discussions with her opponents. Her work is valued as an important contribution to the field, showing the benefits of technological innovations, and combining the fields of play research and social-emotional research. Guida's PhD research was supervised by professor dr Carlos Neto (Technical University Lisbon, Portugal) and professor dr Carolien Rieffe.
