We feel it is very important to share our research findings with those people who are actually involved in the lives of children we study. For this reason, we regularly attend, and speak at, conferences and events for professionals and parents. On March 28, Lizet hosted a workshop at an event for parents of deaf and hard-of-hearing (DHH) teenagers in Utrecht. In this workshop, Lizet talked about the importance of friendships and the role of emotions in friendships. In an interactive setting, she presented recent research findings and engaged parents in discussions about the about the function and purpose of emotions and the challenges DHH children might encounter when forming friendships. So many parents were interested in the workshop that Lizet hosted the workshop twice!
