GuidaGuida Veiga, Portuguese PhD student and a frequent visitor of our lab, has finished her thesis on the importance of play for children's social-emotional development. Under supervision of Carlos Neto (University of Lisbon) and Carolien, Guida studied both qualitative and quantitative aspects of play and how these relate to various aspects of emotional and social functioning. One conclusion Guida draws is that not all forms of play are adaptive for children's social-emotional functioning, which underlines the importance of studying different forms of play independently.
