Shannon Yuen, MSc
Shannon obtained her bachelor's degree in Psychology and Sociology at Dalhousie University, Canada, and her master's degree in Family Therapy at the University of Nevada, USA, which led to her work as a family therapist intern during that time. Shannon has also worked with children and adults with autism in a centre in Hong Kong to assist them to assimilate into the society. Shannon started her PhD in our lab in April 2019, and she will work on social-emotional functioning and family dynamics in Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing children under the supervision of Carolien Rieffe and Boya Li.
How can schools be organized to encourage social inclusion and promote respect for diversity and individual differences? On November 16th this was discussed by members of several stakeholder organizations during an expert meeting on “Effect of policy on schoolyard culture and social inclusion” (Effect van beleid op schoolplein-cultuur en sociale inclusie) in the beautiful Hortus Botanicus, Amsterdam.
